Are There Bacterial vaginosis Home Remedies That Provide Relief Once and for All?

December 6th, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments »

Bacterial vaginosis or B.V. is inflammation of the genitourinary tract (GIT) of a woman’s vagina. It’s most typical symptoms are a thick, white discharge from vagina with a foul and fishy odor. Bacterial vaginosis is caused due to growth of a set of bacteria leading to pH imbalance in the affected area.

This bacteria growth makes the infected tissue red and swollen and is associated with a burning sensation and pain in the vaginal. Bacterial vaginosis home remedies include a variety of everyday things, such as water, yogurt and tea just to mention some of them. The infection is easily curable via home remedies and some precautionary measures involving personal hygiene.

Home remedies have proven records in dealing with the symptoms of bacterial vaginosis. Below are nine home remedies that have proved valuable for bacterial vaginosis relief.

1 Garlic – Taken Orally or Applied Over the Affected Area.

You can take one capsule of garlic each day or apply it directly at vagina. Wrap a peeled garlic clove in a piece of gauze and insert it in vagina. If you repeat this treatment after an interval of 3-4 hours, it will help reducing the infection.

2 Cool Water

A fabric soaked in cold water can be laid across the affected area to obtain relief from redness and swelling due to constriction of blood vessels. This is the simplest home remedy for removing pain and burning sensation.

3 Cotton Soaked in Yogurt

Yogurt can be used two ways:
- Cotton plugs soaked in yogurt for insertion in the vagina
- Applying yogurt directly over the affected area.

Treatment with yogurt has been clinically investigated and found to be beneficial in the long haul.

4 A Tea Bag

Soak a tea bag in plain water and let it cool for a while in refrigerator. Now, apply the bag externally to relieve itching.

5 Turmeric Powder

Turmeric powder has a strong anti fungal effect. Dissolve it in milk and take it until the symptoms are gone.

6 Neem

Neem powder has excellent antibacterial properties and is always advised in case of skin problems. Using neem can alleviate bacteria from vaginal site.

7 Juice from Vegetables

Vegetable juice containing ginger, green vegetables, garlic and parsley has beneficial effect over the pain and itching during conditions of Bacterial vaginosis.

8 Dry Leaves of Tracheal

Tracheal is a natural herb and helps your body to get rid of toxins. Put a teaspoonful of dry tracheal leaves in a cup of hot water and drink it as tea.

9 Cedar Oil Baths

When bathing in hot water, add a spoon of salt and few drops of cedar oil to the water. Cedar oil helps a lot against itching.

Towels, pillows, bed sheets and other items of daily use must be washed separately. But the best way to stay away from these awful vaginal bacteria is to eat yogurt regularly.

What are the causes, Symptoms and Treatment of Trichomonas Vaginitis Infection?

November 29th, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments »

Trichomonas vaginitis is a condition where one-celled parasites reside in the vagina, the cervix, or in male’s lower genital tract.  If you look at it under a microscope, this protozoan appears like a teardrop-shaped cell with a tail. Women with trichomonas commonly have accompanying discharge or irritation.

From time to time the cervix can become inflamed, which may cause bleeding after sexual intercourse or at the time a Pap smear is taken. In a few cases, women will notice discomfort when urinating. In a majority of cases, bacterial vaginosis coexists with this infection because the Trichomonas protozoan creates an alkaline pH in the vagina that encourages the growth of the “bad” bacteria.

If this is the case, the patient may also notice a fishy odor, particularly after intercourse. Fortunately, Trichomonas Vaginitis has no significant medical risks. It doesn’t travel up into the uterus or fallopian tubes nor does it infect other parts of the body.  It is nothing but an uncomfortable frustration.

Common Symptoms of Trichomonas

About half of all women with trichomonas vaginitis present no symptoms and may go undiagnosed for years, even if they have undertaken regular annual examinations.  Condoms can protect against transmission of this condition.

What Causes Trichomonas?

Trichomonas, also known as “trich” (pronounced “trick”), is a sexually transmitted disorder. If you know your relationship is monogamous and have come down with Trichomonas, you may be wondering which implications it has.  Although trich can reside in the male genital tract, it can only survive for a few days or weeks at most.

In the vagina, however, it can be present for years, and has even been discovered in older women who have not had sex for decades. So, as a matter of fact you may have contracted the infection from a previous partner and not known it. Nevertheless, it’s imperative that you have an open, honest dialogue with your current partner, as it still remains possible that he passed on the condition to you if he was sexually involved with someone else.

How to Treat Trichomonas

Trich is treated with an anti-protozoan antibiotic. Metronidazole, aka Flagyl, is considered the most effective treatment and can be taken orally.  In most cases a one-time dose is all that is needed.

Sexual partners of women with trichomonas vaginitis should be treated simultaneously so that the couple doesn’t pass the condition back and forth.  In very few cases, trichomonas may resist the usual doses of metronidazole.  Therefore higher doses are needed.

How Do B.V. and Yeast Infection Differ From Each Other?

November 20th, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments »

The best way to describe the difference between bacterial vaginosis and yeast infection is by the type of vaginal discharge they produce. In a yeast infection, the discharge is normally thick, odorless and white.  With BV, the discharge is thin, milky white or gray, and usually has an unpleasant (fishy)

Normally the vagina contains an abundance of protective bacteria called lactobacilli. When these “good” bacteria are removed, there’s an overgrowth of potentially “bad” or harmful bacteria that can lead to bacterial vaginosis. Yeast infections occur when a fungus (or yeast) called candida albicans becomes unbalanced in the vagina and intestinal tract, due to a bad diet and antibiotics, which allows the candida to multiply quickly.

Research has shown that many women are misinterpreting their symptoms. What most women assume is a yeast infection, is actually bacterial vaginosis (abbreviated BV). In a recent survey, 44 percent of women whom physicians diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis had initially treated themselves for a yeast infection.

Because these two kinds of vaginal infections have different causes, they also have different treatments. Be aware all vaginal symptoms, and check with your doctor if you have any doubt between the two conditions. The differences one more time:

-        BV has an unpleasant fishy odor; yeast infection has no odor at all.
-        BV has a white or gray thin milky discharge; yeast infection has a discharge that is white and think.
-        Up to half of women with BV are affected with itching or irritation while almost any woman with yeast infection has itching or irritation.
-        The cause of BV is bacteria whilst the cause of yeast infection is yeast.

If you suffer from B.V and not Yeast Infection keep reading; I have good news. The good news is that it’s fully possible to live everyday of your life living without nasty discharges or feeling uncomfortable because you smell bad.  It doesn’t have to be this way anymore.

And of course you will get this entire break through information through someone who’s been there.  The woman behind this cure has cracked the code of getting rid of BV. Her cure not only works fast but it has given a lot of women permanently bacterial vaginosis relief.

Is there a Bacterial Vaginitis Cure That Can Heal BV Permanently?

November 14th, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments »

Vaginitis is a condition in women’s vaginal area associated with irritation and/or inflammation of the vagina. Vaginitis is a pretty common condition affecting millions of women each year. There are mainly three types of vaginal infections:

- yeast infection (candida vaginitis)
- “Trich” (trichomonas vaginitis)
- BV (bacterial vaginosis).

Yeast Infection is also known as candidiasis. This is caused by a fungus and is the second most common type of the vaginitis disorder.

Protozoan is another type of vaginal infection and is also known as trichomoniasis. It is considered a sexually transmitted disease (STD). This type of infection is the least common and adds up to 3% to 5% of all vaginitis infections.

The bacterial type of infection (also known as BV) is caused when healthy vaginal organisms are replaced by bacteria. BV is the most common type of vaginitis.

Symptoms of Vaginitis

Infections in the vaginal area can cause a variety of symptoms, for example

- fishy odor,
- irritation,
- abnormal or increased discharge,
- painful urination,
- vaginal bleeding and
- itching,

Women suffering from vaginitis may have one or more of these symptoms. If you have one or more of these symptoms, go to your doctor so that you can be tested.

What Causes Vaginitis?

Vaginitis has a variety of causes. Here are the most common causes;

- fungal infection,
- protozoan infection,
- bacterial infections,
- contact dermatitis,
- allergic reactions

Millions of women are affected by vaginitis and this condition alone is a main reason why women visit their doctor.

Treatment for Vaginitis

There are a few treatment options that can help for vaginitis or give bacterial vaginosis relief. Deciding which treatment your doctor will go for will depend on the cause of the infection:

- Trichomonas infection is commonly treated with a prescribed oral antibiotic.
- Bacterial vaginosis are in most cases treated orally or intra-vaginally with prescribed medication.
- Yeast infections are also treated orally or intra-vaginally with either prescription or over-the-counter antifungal medications.

How to Prevent Vaginitis

- Douching should be avoided as well as irritating agents, such as feminine hygiene sprays and harsh soaps. If you use douches you run the risk of disrupting the normal balance of vaginal bacteria and should therefore be avoided.

- You should wipe front to back after going to the bathroom, thus prevent to spread bacteria from the rectum to the vagina.

- You should practice safe sex or abstinence if possible. Also avoid multiple sexual partners. If you use latex condoms consistently and in the right way, you can reduce the risk of transmission of STDs.

- Don’t use clothing that can trap moisture, for example panty hose without a cotton crotch, tight jeans etc.

A Bacterial Vaginosis Cure That Can Get Rid Of BV Permanently – Does It Exist?

October 29th, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments »

Bacterial Vaginosis is the most common cause of vaginal discharge. It’s actual an overgrowth of the bad bacteria that is normally found in the vagina.  Usually, when the vagina is healthy, there is a balance of good and bad bacteria.

In a healthy vagina, there is a balance of good and the bad bacteria.  When Bacterial Vaginosis occurs, the good bacteria are lessened or gone and the bad bacteria flourish.  BV is most commonly found in women who are sexually active.

The symptoms of Bacterial Vaginosis include fishy or musky vaginal odor, a thin white or gray discharge and irritation or itching in the vaginal area. Some minor cases of BV infections may heal without treatment. Nevertheless, if you suspect you have Bacterial Vaginosis, you must see your physician because the infection can cause more serious conditions, for example pelvic inflammatory disease.

Your physician will be able to diagnose BV by physical exam and by testing a swab containing a sample of your vaginal discharge. For women in pregnancy, BV treatment is particularly important because it can cause low birth weight or premature delivery of the baby. Pregnant women who have previously given birth prematurely are often offered a test and – if necessary – treatment for bacterial vaginosis relief. More than 800,000 pregnant women in USA are infected with BV each year.

If you’re suffering from BV, your physician may prescribe Metronidazole or Flagyl for you. When you’re taking Metronidazole, it is very important to avoid alcohol even in minor amounts. This combination can cause nausea and vomiting. Metronidazole may interact with other medications, therefore it is in your best interest to tell your physician about any other medication you are taking, prescribed or otherwise.

Metronidazole is prescribed in oral form or as a vaginal gel. The oral form of Metronidazole is 500 mg and should be taken twice daily for seven days. The gel is applied once daily for seven days or twice daily for five days.

Lactobacillus vaginal suppositories are another treatment option. Lactobacillus is the name of the good bacteria normally found in the vagina. Studies so far have not been conclusive as to whether it actually is giving bacterial vaginosis relief or not. Clindamycin is sometimes prescribed as a cure for bacterial vaginosis.

During a bacterial vaginosis cure, it is recommended that you avoid sexual intercourse and/or if you have multiple sex partners, at least reduce the number of partners until the infection is cured. It is also recommended that you stay away from douching. It is very important that you use all of the medication your doctor has prescribed even if you feel relief before the cure is over.

October 23rd, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments »

If you have BV, you need to go through at least one of several bacterial vaginosis treatments, not just because it’s symptoms but also because the risk you run for complications. The main complications are;

- Premature labor during pregnancy
- Increase risk of getting sexually transmitted diseases.

The main symptoms of BV are;

- Abnormal vaginal discharge
- Bad fishy smell from vagina
- Itching
- Irritation and swelling of the nether areas
- Cramps in the stomach

A majority of women diagnosed with BV, don’t experience the symptoms.  How is BV treated?

Do-It-Yourself BV Home Remedies

Bacterial vaginosis treatments with home remedies will vary according to the method they use to fight the infection.

Lactic Bacteria Remedies

These remedies are based on the principle that lactobacilli – the “good bacteria”, will prevent infections in vagina.

Tea Tree Oil Remedies

These home remedies kill the bacteria, most likely by producing antiseptic and antifungal substances.

Remedies that lower the Vaginal pH Level

These home remedies are adding an acidic buffer in vagina. This will help to protect against infections like BV.

Most of the home remedies mentioned above will only lighten the symptoms without eliminating the bacteria or vaginal odor completely.

Treating BV with Antibiotics

If you are suffering from bacterial vaginosis or you suspect you have it you should always visit your doctor or gynecologist for medical advice.  The treatment these professionals most likely will give for your BV is antibiotics.  If you are treated with antibiotics, it is mandatory that you follow the prescription the doctor has given very carefully.

Should the symptoms disappear before the treatment period is over, keep taking the medication as long as the doctor has told you. Your physician or gynecologist will also inform you about the side effects antibiotics may have on your condition.

There are mainly two antibiotics that are used for treating BV;

Metronidazole

Metronidazole is sold as oral medication or as a topical vaginal cream or gel.  Taken orally the medication can be used as a one-time treatment.  For most patients though, the treatment will take a week or so. Clinical studies have documented that the weeklong treatment is more effective that the one-time treatment. Metrodinazole is known as the most efficient antibiotic for treating bacterial vaginosis.  The drawback with this medication is side effects like

- Nausea and vomiting
- Headaches
- Dizziness
- Allergic reactions

In the cream or gel form, one of the side effects reported is vaginal yeast infection. If you experience any of these side effects during an antibiotic treatment, you should contact your doctor immediately

Clindamycin

Like metronidazole, clindamycin can be purchased as oral medication and topical cream or gel.  Clindamycin is also attached with side effects that includes

- Rashes,
- Nausea
- Diarrhea,
- Cramps in the stomach

Speak with your doctor if you experience any of these side effects.

Antibiotics kill the bacteria that cause BV. In 50 percent of the cases though, bacterial vaginosis will recur within one month after the antibiotic treatment. Antibiotic treatment will only give permanent bacterial vaginosis relief for half of the women who are suffering from it.

This fact has forced the medical industry to look for alternative bacterial vaginosis treatments.

How Do You Find A Bacterial Vaginosis Home Remedy That Works For You?

October 17th, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments »

There is more than one bacterial vaginosis home remedy to choose from. I have listed some simple remedies for treating BV that can be found in most homes. These remedies have proved to work in a majority of cases.

1 Taking Nutritional Supplements

Vitamin A, B complex, C, D and E contain antioxidants that are effective for bacterial vaginosis relief. Powdered capsules or prepared creams containing vitamin E have proven to relieve itching.

2 Do You Like Yogurt?

Lactobacillusacidophilus as well as L. bifidus contained in yogurt have proven to work well for restoring the acidic balance in the vagina. These remedies can be introduced directly into vagina or taken orally. Plain yogurt that contains live acidophilus cultures can be eaten as it is. Capsules or powders containing acidophilus are normally taken orally. Another effective alternative that improves the vaginal area is inserting tampons soaked in yogurt into vagina,

3 Using Beta-Dine and Gentian Violet

Gentian violet and beta-dine are both excellent in treating Candida vulvovaginitis. Betadine is an efficient antiseptic iodine bacterial vaginosis home remedy, but should be avoided for treating BV during pregnancy. Gentian violet is an efficient antifungal stain and effective in relieving the symptoms. Allergy for both of these remedies has been reported.

4 Try Boric Acid Douche

A boric acid douche is a great and effective alternative to acidify the vaginal pH. This BV remedy prevents unwanted bacteria from multiplying and destroys that’s already there. In other words an excellent remedy, although some women have reported over-sensitivity to this douche. The use of Summer’s Eve medicated douche that contains potassium iodide has also proved to be an effective treatment for lowering the vaginal pH. A douche made of a tablespoon of vinegar per quart of warm water has also proven to be an effective bacterial vaginosis home remedy.

5 Stay Away From These Foods

Foods containing yeast, for example cheese – especially cheese containing molds, like blue cheese, sugar, vinegar, alcohol, soy sauce, chocolate, fruits and fermented foods should be avoided by women who suffer from bacterial vaginosis..

6 Homeopathic Remedies

Homeopathic remedies have proven to work against BV.

7 Using Cold Compresses

Cold compresses can relieve swelling and itching. When you place a cold cloth on the affected area, the blood vessels become constricted which then makes the affected area less swollen and red.

8 Taking a Warm Bath

A warm bath or a shallow sitz bath can be an efficient bacterial vaginosis remedy because it is very soothing to irritated genital tissues. Soap should be avoided because it eliminates some of the natural oils of the skin.

Each bacterial vaginosis home remedy mentioned in this article offers a safe, inexpensive and effective alternative treatment.  Don’t forget to speak with your doctor before you start such treatment.

Why Is It So Important To Avert And Cure Bacterial vaginosis?

October 9th, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments »

In this article I will list a few important reasons why this condition should be prevented and how to cure bacterial vaginosis.

Visit your physician if you suspect you may have bacterial vaginosis.

Why Should You take BV Seriously?

The main symptoms of BV; itching and bad vaginal odor is the most obvious reason to take BV seriously.  However, there are other reasons too. In most cases, BV doesn’t cause any problems, however there are some risks associated with this condition.   Which risks are we talking about?

1. BV can increase the predisposition to HIV infection if you are exposed to the virus.

2. A woman having BV and is infected with HIV is more likely to pass the infection to her sex partners.

3. Women with bacterial vaginosis who also have HIV will normally get the same treatment as those who are HIV virus free.

4. BV increases the risk of developing infections after surgeries, for example hysterectomy and abortion.

5. In some cases women who suffer BV will be treated for this before surgeries like hysterectomy or abortion for lowering the risk of getting an infection.

6. BV may increase the risk for complications of pregnancy.

7 For pregnant women treatment is crucial.

8. A pregnancy resulting in a child weighing less than 5 pounds and 8 ounces or ending up with a premature delivery, will normally be considered for a BV exam, whether they have symptoms or not.

9. A pregnant woman with BV symptoms normally gets an exam and are treated.

10. Bacterial vaginosis increases a woman’s probability of getting other sexually transmitted diseases, like for instance Chlamydia, Gonorrhea and Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV).

How You Can Cure Bacterial Vaginosis

How can you get bacterial vaginosis relief ?

1. The traditional treatment of BV is antibiotics prescribed by a doctor.

2. Two different antibiotics are normally used for BV treatment and the one that is right for you is up to your doctor to decide.

3. Even if the symptoms should disappear, you must take the BV medications completely that your doctor has prescribed.

4. There are some great alternatives to antibiotics out there (see at the bottom of this article)

5. Bacterial vaginosis sometimes clears up without any treatment at all.

6. Even after treatment, bacterial vaginosis can recur.

When Should You Seek Treatment?

1. Every woman with symptoms of bacterial vaginosis should take treatment to prevent complications

2. Male sexual partners of women with BV will normally not need treatment.

3. Be aware that BV can spread between female sexual partners.

Prevention of BV

Below are some tips you can follow to reduce the risk of getting BV:

1. If you are sexually active at least limit the number of partners you have sex with.

2. Douching should be avoided.

Be aware of alternatives out there to cure bacterial vaginosis that might be more efficient than antibiotics, in particular regarding recurring BV.

Cures For Bacterial Vaginosis – How Can You Find One That Works?

August 18th, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments »

It may be tranquilizing to know that cures for bacterial vaginosis are usually very simple and most have been proven to be highly effective. If you are a woman suffering from chronic or recurrent bacterial vaginosis, antibiotics are in most cases not the answer. Even if this is your first time having this condition, you may consider using proper home remedies instead of antibiotics.

A majority of women that suffer from chronic BV report that using antibiotics helps for a short time but the condition usually returns. The best treatment for bacterial vaginosis may actually be with items you have around the house. There are a number of home remedies available, and for MUCH less than the cost of one doctor visit you will find proven instructions to soothe and ultimately cure BV.

What Types of Antibiotics are Being Used?

Most doctors are prescribing vaginal antibiotics or oral antibiotics. You probably already know it; an oral antibiotic is the same as taking the antibiotic pill by mouth.  Vaginal antibiotics involve using a gel or cream that is inserted into the vagina using an application. It’s done this way to make sure you get the correct dosage amount. The purpose of the antibiotic cures for bacterial vaginosis are to help destroy the bacteria that cause  a this condition and bring the bacteria levels back to normal.

Metronidazole, as well as Clindamycin, Ampicillin, Ceftriaxone, and Tertracycline are all popular antibiotics. Tinidazole is a new type of antibiotic that is currently being tested. This antibiotic drug has been said to be effective in European countries for treating BV.  Tinidazole is in the same antimicrobial family as Metronidazole, thus very similar to this antibiotic.

Some conflicting side effects in women who have taken Metronidazole, is the direct reason why the study of Tinidazole was started in the first place. Many women who have tried these antibiotics say that the side effects of Tinidazole are less than Metronidazole. Clindamycyin is an antibiotic that should be avoided if possible mostly because of the serious side effects it produces; this antibiotic has been linked to be the cause of a severe intestinal condition even weeks after taking it.

What are Possible Home Remedies?

Natural treatments for BV are growing more popular and have worked for a number of women. For the same price as a visit to your doctor or even less, you can get downloadable instructions for natural home remedies. To mention just a few, women with BV have tried using yogurt, tea tree oil, goldenseal, garlic and olive leaf extract.

Other home remedy cures for bacterial vaginosis include changes in diet and activity. Even the intake of vitamin supplements may help reduce BV symptoms as well as abstinence from sexual activities. Lactobacillus supplements may also be used, as they are said to help maintain vaginal bacteria levels.

What if I told you that there is a home remedy bacterial vaginosis treatment that can give you relief from your BV once and for all in as ittle as 3 days, would you believe me? Click Here and check it out for yourself!
